Switzerland: Ticino... Valle Maggia

These pictures are from the beginning of the year. Ticino, and in particular Valle Maggia has a special place in our hearts. It was a place where we realised the value of preserving history and how a country was so committed to preserving their history. It dates back to the early 1800's and was left deserted (if I remember correctly) around the great depression.

There are now around 20% of the original number of residents living there with most owners leaving their homes as holiday homes rather than permanent residences.
